Scott A. Crosbie received his B.A. degree in Political Science from the University of Kentucky, College of Arts and Sciences and obtained his J.D. degree from the University of Kentucky, College of Law. Prior to entering UK Law School, Scott was selected as a UK College of Law W.L. Matthews Fellow earning him a full scholarship for his academic studies.
While completing his legal studies, Scott served in the administration of Kentucky Governor Brereton C. Jones as Legal Assistant to the Governor and has been an adjunct-faculty member at Sullivan University in Lexington, Kentucky teaching courses for the paralegal studies program.
Following law school, Scott formed Wethington, Hurt & Crosbie (presently Hurt, Crosbie & May) with his law school classmate, Bill Hurt. Shortly after the firm was established, Scott served as General Counsel to the Kentucky Occupational Safety and Health Administration Review Commission. In this capacity, Scott provided legal direction to Commission members relating to administrative hearings and recommendations for decisions. This professional experience provided Scott with a comprehensive understanding of federal and state laws relating to employer-employee safety issues which has served him well in private practice.
Scott continues his career where he began-representing individuals in the Kentucky Court system. Since founding the firm, Scott has represented the consumer and the large insurance company as well as the injured and their families.
Scott is a member of the Fayette County Bar Association, Kentucky Bar Association, American Bar Association, American Justice Association and the Kentucky Justice Association. He is licensed to practice law by the Kentucky Supreme Court, U.S. District Court-Eastern District of Kentucky and U.S. District of Kentucky-Western District of Kentucky.
Since moving from his native Huntington, West Virginia in the 1980s, Scott has been active at the University of Kentucky as well as involved in military, community and political activities. While at UK, Scott has served two terms on the University of Kentucky, Board of Trustees and was named to the USA-Today All-American Academic Team.
Desiring the leadership experience that the United States Army provides, Scott entered UK as a freshman through a scholarship provided by the United States Army Reserved Officer Training Corps. He later successfully completed the United States Army Air Assault School in Ft. Campbell, Kentucky and graduated from the U.S. Army Advanced Camp in Ft. Lewis.
Besides his dedication to his law practice and its hundreds of clients, Scott has been active in local government and citizen advocacy. Scott was elected to the Lexington-Fayette Urban County Council as a Council Member At-Large. While in this capacity, he served as Chairman for the LFUCG Special Ethics Review Committee and Landlord Rental Licensing Committee. Mr. Crosbie was also responsible for developing government standards for testing, monitoring and regulating air quality and environmental conditions in all government buildings. In addition, he served on the Council's Policies and Priorities Committee, Budget and Finance Committee, Services Committee and Intergovernmental Relations Committee.
As a result of Scott's leadership and involvement, he was selected as a United States Fellow for the International German-Marshall Fund located in Washington, D.C. and was an attendee at the United States Republican Leadership Conference.
Outside representing injured clients and their families, Scott is a proud husband, father and member of the Lexington community. Scott and his wife, K.C., have 3 children, Kirby, Cate and Mac. Scott has been a volunteer coach with Ecton Park's Eastern Little League team and has supported his children's school, The Lexington Christian Academy, in various activities.
