William H. May, III
Hurt, Crosbie & May PLLC |
"Being born and raised in central Kentucky gives me a great appreciation for the people that live here. Protecting them is what makes my job so important."
William H. May, III received his B.A. degree from Western Kentucky University prior to obtaining his J.D. degree from the University of Kentucky, College of Law. Prior to returning to private practice, Bill served as General Counsel for the Kentucky Lottery Corporation wherein he supervised legal staff and served as the Legislative and Executive Branch Agent for the Lottery.
In addition, Bill served as General Counsel to Governor Paul Patton's 1999 re-election campaign and also was appointed as General Counsel to the Kentucky Democratic Party.
Prior to joining Hurt, Crosbie & May, Bill practiced in a mid-size Louisville law firm and devoted most of his practice in the field of workers compensation and personal injury. Unlike the Kentucky Lottery where Bill worked and observed winners picking up sizeable checks, he understands that obtaining justice is a lot more difficult than getting lucky. It requires hard work and dedication-both inside and outside of court-and applies that approach to every client matter that he is involved with.
Trust, patience and confidentiality describe Bill's remarkable success working with clients as they navigate incredible challenges. As an example, Bill was publically credited by both Attorney General Greg Stumbo and Governor Ernie Fletcher as being the lead negotiator who helped to resolve the 2007 hiring investigation that had paralyzed Kentucky state government. He understands both sides of an issue and works to bring resolution regardless of the circumstances.
Bill holds active memberships with the Fayette County Bar Association, Jefferson County Bar Association, Kentucky Bar Association and American Bar Association. He is licensed to practice law by the Kentucky Supreme Court, Indiana Supreme Court, U.S. District Court-Eastern Division, and U.S. District Court-Western Division.
In his spare time, Bill and his wife, Denise, enjoy spending evenings at the soccer field or at swim meets around Frankfort where their 3 children, Liam, Meredith and Quinn, often compete.
