Central KY Slip and Fall Accidents: Leading Cause of Traumatic Brain Injury

Kentucky slip and fall accidents occur frequently, whether at work (ranging from traditional office settings to construction sites), at private residences, or in public places.  As the leading cause of traumatic brain injury, slip and fall accidents should not be taken lightly.  Along with serious head injuries, the types of injuries commonly resulting from slip and fall accidents are the following:

  • fractures or broken bones (such as hip fractures or broken wrists, arms, and legs)
  • back injuries (including ruptured discs, herniated discs, lumbar pain, and other injuries)
  • neck injuries (such as sprains or cervical fractures)
  • orthopaedic injuries
  • many other types of injuries.

Perhaps the most traumatic of slip and fall injuries is a blow to the head, as in the case of traumatic brain injury (TBI).  Brain injury victims do not always display symptoms of traumatic brain injury right away, and those who do may fail to realize their own symptoms immediately.  Some of the symptoms of TBI are the following:

  • blurred vision
  • headache
  • confusion
  • unconsciousness
  • swelling
  • dilated pupils
  • numbness in the limbs
  • slurred speech
  • seizures
  • personality changes.

If you or a loved one has been injured in any kind of accident that involved a blow to the head or a slip and fall accident that resulted in any injury, seek medical care immediately.  The above list is far from comprehensive, and only a physician can determine if you have a Kentucky traumatic brain injury.  For more information on central Kentucky slip and fall accidents and Lexington injuries, feel free to contact our firm for free resources and answers to your questions.  We handle slip and fall cases in Lexington and throughout central Kentucky.
