Hit-and-Run Driver Indicted For Tragic Death of Lexington Officer

A hit-and-run driver was indicted by a Fayette County grand jury on a murder charge Tuesday, June 23, in connection with the tragic death of a Lexington police officer, according to the Leagle law news source.  According to police, 33-year-old Glenn Rahan Doneghy struck 27-year-old police officer Bryan Durman with his SUV on North Limestone around 10:00 p.m. on April 29.  Officer Durman was on-duty at the time of the tragic Lexington car accident, and he was investigating a noise complaint when he was hit.  After the collision, Doneghy fled the scene in his SUV, and the jury ruled that the driver "knew or should have known" that the impact resulted in serious or fatal injuries.  His failure to help resulted in his murder charge, along with charges of failure to render aid, leaving the accident scene, possession of a controlled substance, marijuana, & drug paraphernalia, and other charges.

As a central Kentucky and Lexington wrongful death lawyer, Scott Crosbie expresses his deepest condolences to the family and friends of Officer Bryan Durman.  Since Officer Durman was on-duty at the time of the Lexington crash, his family may be able to file a workers' compensation claim, in addition to a wrongful death claim in connection with the fatal car accident.  Leagle reports that Durman's wife is filing suit against Doneghy.
