Two Kentucky Coal Miners Tragically Killed in Roof Collapse Accident

Two Kentucky coal miners were tragically killed in a roof collapse accident at an underground coal mine, according to Volunteer TV.  According to Dick Brown, spokesman for the Kentucky Office of Mine Safety and Licensing, both miners were found dead by rescue workers Thursday, May 29, at the western Kentucky Dotiki Mine.  Although rescuers had to wait before searching for the second body due to rocks continuing to fall, both Justin Travis, 27, and Michael Carter, 28 were found after the tragic mining accident.  The mine has a "long history of safety problems," according to the news source, with state and federal records showing over 40 closure orders since January of 2009 due to safety violations.
