Q: Are there any hidden costs for your services?

A:

As a general rule, the client pays for expenses and costs.  In most cases, law firms in Lexington and surrounding counties such as Mercer, Clark and Jessamine, pay for these costs as they arise.  At the end of the case, the client reimburses the personal injury lawyer for their expenses from the final settlement or recovery. 

 

At the beginning of representation, these costs are relatively small and include such charges as expenses paid to health care providers for medical records and payments to government offices to obtain certain records such as accident reports.  If, and when, a lawsuit must be filed, the costs are much greater and naturally are dependent upon the complexity of each particular case.  Examples of these costs are payments to expert witnesses, preparation of trial exhibits and costs for depositions. 

 

Regardless of whether you settle before a lawsuit is filed or you obtain a final judgment at trial, Hurt, Crosbie and May will provide you with a detailed accounting of all of these various expenses.  It is your right to know how the proceeds of a settlement or judgment are to be distributed.
