The following news item appeared in the Louisville Courier-Journal in late October of 2009, but was so small that most readers probably missed it:
"Interstate 65 reopened early Wednesday after an accident shut it down in both directions late Tuesday night, a MetroSafe Communications supervisor said.
He said a tractor-trailer truck rolled into another vehicle in the northbound lanes at hospital curve, and that an injury was involved but he had no other details.
The accident occurred shortly after 11:30 p.m. and the highway reopened about 1:45 a.m."
Unfortunately, this undersized story is just a glimpse into what has become a big problem for drivers in Kentucky. Statistics say there are more than 10,000 wrecks involving trucks and semi trucks - also called tractor-trailers and 18-wheelers - in our state each year. Like the one in the above story, many of these crashes involve injuries or even death.
Because of the additional regulations governing commercial vehicles - as well as complications that can arise in matters involving commercial drivers licenses and the contracts those drivers may have with private shipping companies - the litigation that results from these kinds of accidents can be time-consuming and intricate.
If you or a loved one has been injured or killed in a wreck with a semi truck or another commercial automobile, you need an attorney with the experience and resources to handle these kinds of cases.
